If you want to know which City Section team might be much improved, beware of South Gate. The Rams hired former Roosevelt Coach Jose Casagran, who hadn’t been a head coach since 2003.

South Gate started on Friday night with a 48-6 win over Roybal. Sophomore running back Levell Thompson rushed for 246 yards in 12 carries and scored two touchdowns. Alexander Flatos gained 105 yards in three carries. Eddie Flores threw three TD passes.

Asked if he had any nervous moments in his return, Casagran said, ‘When I got up in the morning, I was surprised how anxious I was.’
