Westlake Village Oaks Christian is trying out four freshmen on varsity, including three on the offensive line, in an attempt to help with depth issues.

Richard Cabrera (6 feet 4, 265 pounds), Jalen Larry (6-3, 250) and Cameron Townsend (6-0, 250) saw action on Friday in a varsity scrimmage against Sherman Oaks Notre Dame. Also playing was freshman quarterback Malik Henry.

“We tried to play every kid we took there,” first-year Coach Jeff Woodruff said. “I expect us to be better than we were. We have a lot of improvement to make.”

Oaks Christian opens its season on Friday at Del Oro in the Sacramento area.
