Football has been the toughest sport for San Juan Capistrano JSerra to make an impact in the Trinity League. Coach Jim Hartigan, who had success at Santa Margarita, continues to plug away, and this coming season will be another opportunity for the program to keep improving.

Last season, JSerra won a Trinity League game, knocking off Orange Lutheran while going 4-6 overall. The Lions are expecting more improvement because they will be using some members off an outstanding freshman team.

Likely to be varsity contributors this season are sophomores Nick Robinson (quarterback), DJ Bailey (running back), Parker Godrey (linebacker), Ethan Aguayo (receiver) and Mitchell Deamon (defensive end). Also, sophomore linebacker Quentin Longrie is on his way to becoming one of the school’s best athletes. He’s a a top left-handed pitcher for the baseball team.

The best player on the team should be junior running back Casey Eugenio, and beware of improving receiver-defensive back Dante Pettis, a junior.
