Kyle Sulka, 6 feet 4, 255 pounds, was devouring his sixth helping of prime rib on Friday night at Sherman Oaks Notre Dame, continuing a tradition that has lasted for 20 consecutive years. Players stay for two nights in the school gym during the opening weekend of football training camp, and parents help out by feeding the players.

‘Delicious,’ was the word of the night as Notre Dame players dined on prime rib, garlic potatoes, ice cream, smoothies, cake and other goodies. From Justin Fargas to Dayne Crist to Giancarlo Stanton, Notre Dame players always look forward to the night prime rib is served.

Sulka got special attention, because he was everyone’s favorite to eat the most. And it was his father, Tom, who was the chef that prepared the prime rib.

Kevin Rooney, in his 33rd season as head coach, said, ‘This is the best time of the year, because we get the best food anywhere.’
