There were high expectations for the secondary at Encino Crespi, and the players passed their first test on Saturday night, playing well in a 35-20 victory over Salpointe Catholic in Tucson.

Safety Tyler Foreman had an interception and two sacks. Cornerback Timmy Hayes was assigned to cover Salpointe’s top receiver and came through. Brandon Arnold and sophomore Marvell Tell also were in top form.

‘We’re really pleased,’ Coach Jon Mack said.

The heavily recruited Foreman is going to be turned loose all season for the Celts.

‘He’ll be all over the place,’ Mack said.

As for the trip to Tucson, Mack said several players were experiencing their first plane trip.

‘We had a few guys sitting back and holding the hand rails,’ he said.
