The easiest prediction for the 2012 football season is that defensive end Ray Davison of Encino Crespi will double or even triple his sack total from a year ago when he had five.

Davison, 6 feet 2, 215 pounds, has made great improvement over the summer. He has eight scholarship offers, and when you see what he can do rushing the passer, it’s clear he can cause some major problems. Offensive tackles will have to be on alert and very careful in dealing with him.

‘Personally, if I do what I’m supposed to do, I don’t feel anybody can really stop me,’ he said. ‘It’s all mental. It’s how I get off the ball, reading what the tackle does and reacting what he gives me.’

Crespi opens its season on Saturday on the road against Tuscon (Ariz.) Salpointe Catholic.
