With Friday an official holiday in the Los Angeles Unified School District, City Section football teams were told not to play on Friday and are barred from hosting games at district fields on that day. LAUSD also will not pay for buses on Friday.

So most teams have switched their games to Thursday. However, North Hollywood will travel to Harvard-Westlake on Friday, with Harvard-Westlake picking up the tab for the bus.

Also, Carson is traveling to Fresno Edison on Saturday, and Carson has to pay for the bus because LAUSD will not pay for a bus beyond 100 miles round trip.

For good news, teams are allowed to practice on Tuesday despite a professional development day. Normally, practice is banned on professional development days. But because of the short week, it is allowed. And teams have the option of practicing either Saturday or Monday, which is Labor Day.
