Football: Chase Dominguez is top long snapper

Long snappers don’t get a lot of attention even though they are so important for football teams succeeding on punts, extra points and field goals, but private guru Chris Rubio has put together a list of who he thinks are the top high school long snappers in Southern California.

Topping the list is senior Chase Dominguez of Orange Lutheran. Then there’s Erik Thompson of Trabuco Hills, Nico Walsh of Sherman Oaks Notre Dame and Joseph Marx of Laguna Hills.

Among the juniors are Tanner Carew of Damien and Christian Samarzich of Upland. And Rubio singles out sophomores AJ Carty of Servite and Ryan Simmons of Santa Margarita.
