Baseball: Lucas Giolito to undergo surgery

Former Harvard-Westlake pitcher Lucas Giolito will undergo Tommy John surgery on Aug. 31, his father, Rick, confirmed on Friday.

Giolito was the first-round draft pick of the Washington Nationals. He missed most of his senior year at Harvard-Westlake after spraining the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow. He made his minor-league debut on Aug. 14.
