Jared Robinson, a graduate of La Puente Bishop Amat in June, didn’t play high school baseball his senior year. But he’ll be the starting pitcher on Monday night at 7 o’clock when Compton plays Taiwan in the championship game of the Palomino World Series at the Urban Youth Academy in Compton.

Robinson, who has been clocked in the high 80s, played junior varsity in 2011 but didn’t play baseball last season. He has used the summer to gain attention from junior colleges.

Compton has been led by Arizona State-bound shortstop Jordan Aboites from Lakewood Mayfair and pitcher Dillon Tate from Claremont who’s headed to UC Santa Barbara.

Compton and Taiwan haven’t lost in the tournament.
