Lots of City Section coaches would love to have a standout on the defensive line or at linebacker.

Who will fill that role?

Linebacker Ilya Petrosyan of North Hollywood had 18 tackles for losses as a junior. Linebacker Christopher Agee of Los Angeles, 6 feet 2, 195 pounds, has been on varsity for four years.

Linebacker Trevor Thorp of San Pedro is the team’s sack leader. Junior linebacker Deandre Brewer of Arleta is 6-2, 210 pounds and ready to be a standout.

Crenshaw has two basketball players ready to be turned loose in defensive end Andre Edwards and linebacker Birdel Hodge. Anthony Rios-Carlsen, a transfer from San Diego, should be an impact player at Canoga Park. Tayon Blockmon had 19 sacks for Venice as a sophomore at linebacker.

Carson has linebackers Daniel Cortez and Manoah Pearson and linemen Albert Itula and Jecho Aaitui. Narbonne returns veteran linebackers Keishawn Bierria and Marquis Lomax. Paulo Lepua is a 6-3, 255-pound All-City defensive tackle for the Gauchos. All-City linebacker Daniel Belton returns for South East. Basketball standout Chaunce Hill of Fairfax is getting a look at defensive end.

Westchester has a pass rusher in Corey Sweets. El Camino Real has high hopes for junior Jacob Bojsza (6-4, 250). Linebacker Aljendro Lupercio of Garfield is fast and has a 4.29 GPA. The versatile Devon Hawkins of Taft usually finds a way to make an impact.
