Football: Diversity is focus in early TV games

Under terms of its contract with the Southern Section, FSN and Prime Ticket get first choice on selecting prep football games to televise, and the Southern Section appears to have used its influence to seek a more diversified selection process.

Among the games identified for likely broadcast early in the season are West Covina-Covina on Aug. 24, Corona Centennial-St. Bonaventure on Aug. 31, Valencia-Chaminade on Sept. 7, Redlands East Valley-Vista Murrieta on Sept. 14, Rancho Cucamonga-Riverside North on Sept. 21 and Edison-San Clemente on Sept. 28.

There will be a lot more games aired weekly on FSN’s Prep Zone.

Also, Time Warner Cable will be broadcasting several games a week.

An official announcement on games to be aired is expected in August.
