Venice has been laying low this summer, but that doesn’t mean the Gondaliers won’t be part of the group of teams expected to challenge heavily favored Narbonne for the City Section Div. I championship.

Coach Angela Gasca started seven sophomores last season, and the varsity experience should pay off this fall.

Venice has lots of speed on offense, which should help 6-foot-2 junior quarterback Alexander Diamont, who could be Venice’s best quarterback since J.P. Losman.

The kicking game also should be outstanding with Mclean Emanuel, a senior who made two 48-yard field goals last season.

‘We like our team very much,’ Gasca said.
