Football: A Mater Dei homecoming for Jimmy Nolan

Jimmy Nolan was a key player on the first Southern Section championship team for Coach Bruce Rollinson at Santa Ana Mater Dei in 1991.

Now Nolan gets to return to his Mater Dei roots on Sept. 7 as football coach at Carson when the Colts face the Monarchs at Santa Ana Stadium.

He better not expect Mater Dei to have any of the same hand signals from 1991.

‘We’ll screw him up,’ Rollinson said.
