Baseball: Semifinals set in VIBL playoffs

The semifinals are set for Friday in the Valley Invitational Baseball League.

It will be Chatsworth hosting Valencia and Saugus hosting Loyola. Both games are at 5 p.m.

The big summer story could be Valencia's pitching development. Valencia has struggled in the spring during playoff time because it has lacked pitching depth. But the Vikings have recorded two shutout victories in the VIBL playoffs.

The winners of Friday's semifinals will advance to the championship game on Monday at 7 p.m. at Birmingham.
