Ever since Newbury Park pitcher Luke Eubank signed with Cal State Los Angeles, an NCAA Division II school, last November, there has been much speculation whether he’d end up there.

After having a remarkable season when he led the Panthers to the Southern Section Division 1 championship and was named the Times’ player of the year, Eubank decided he wanted to play Division I baseball.

But Cal State Los Angeles declined to release him from his letter of intent. According to a family friend, Eubank will enroll at Western Nevada JC in Carson City.

Another Newbury Park player, Joe Christian, will play for Oregon this fall.
