Baseball: It's a day for extra innings in American Legion playoffs [Updated]

July 15, 2012 |  1:16 pm

To say that the teams competing in the American Legion playoffs in Paramount are evenly matched would be an understatement.

They played four first-round games on Saturday, and every game went into extra innings.

The scores: Downey 2, Narbonne 1, 10 innings; Paramount 3, Long Beach Wilson 2, eight innings; Lakewood 2, El Segundo 1, eight innings; Los Alamitos 3, Long Beach Millikan 2, nine innings.

On Sunday, Lakewood defeated Paramount, 7-4. Los Alamitos defeated Downey, 3-1.

In loser's bracket games on Monday, Wilson will play Paramount at 4 p.m. and Downey plays Narbonne at 7 p.m.
