Baseball: It’s a day for extra innings in American Legion playoffs

To say that the teams competing in the American Legion playoffs in Paramount are evenly matched would be an understatement.
They played four first-round games on Saturday, and every game went into extra innings.
The scores: Downey 2, Narbonne 1, 10 innings; Paramount 3, Long Beach Wilson 2, eight innings; Lakewood 2, El Segundo 1, eight innings; Los Alamitos 3, Long Beach Millikan 2, nine innings.
On Sunday, Lakewood defeated Paramount, 7-4. Los Alamitos defeated Downey, 3-1.
In loser’s bracket games on Monday, Wilson will play Paramount at 4 p.m. and Downey plays Narbonne at 7 p.m.
