June 2, 2012 |  7:35 pm

Khalfani Muhammad of Sherman Oaks Notre Dame clipped Oxnard Rio Mesa's Cameron Roach at the finish line and the Knights won the 4x100 relay by three thousandths of a second with a time of 41.13 at the state finals in Clovis.

In the girls race, Gardena Serra's Alexis Faulknor held off Long Beach Poly's Ariana Washingon in the final 30 meters as the Cavaliers clocked 45.92 and started strong in the quest for their first team title.

Alex Rohani of Beverly Hills surged past Los Angeles Dorsey's Rashard Clark to win the boys 400 meter dash in a lifetime best 47.34 seconds and Renetia James won the girls 400 in 53.98--the fastest time in California this year.
