Track & Field: Hiltz and Fahy win state 1,600 titles

Aptos junior Nikki Hiltz ran a lifetime best 4:42.25 to win the girls 1,600 at the state championships in Clovis. Rebecca Mehra of Palo Verdes wa second in 4:47.33 and Xochitl Navarette of Ontario Colony was third in 4:48.73. Defending champion Cami Chapus of Studio City Harvard-Westlake finished fifth.

In the boys 1600, Luis Gutierrez of Rancho Cucamonga finished runner-up to Darren Fahy of Carlsbad La Costa Canyon, who doubled back to win the 3,200 later in the meet.
