Football: Junior college opening could have domino effect

Jim Fenwick is stepping down as football coach at Los Angeles Valley College to become athletic director, and the school wants to hire a replacement by the middle of July.

If a local high school coach gets the position, it could create some interesting scenarios.

Fenwick said the position will not be full time to start but will have benefits and a good salary, with the hope of becoming a full-time position.

Fenwick said he wants to transition into athletic director, so he's not leaving as football coach until "the right person" is hired.

The school has started to take applications, and the rumors are beginning about potential high school coaches seeking the job. Candidates need a master's degree.
