Watch out for Sylmar this coming season in prep basketball. Coach Bort Escoto had five players sit out last season after transferring. They’re now eligible, and Sylmar served notice by knocking off Gardena Serra, 61-60, in the Westchester tournament.

Josh Wade, a 6-foo-5 senior who sat out last season after attending a continuation school, had 33 points against Serra. Another ‘redshirt,’ Ashton Anderson, scored 17 points.
