Boys’ basketball: Long Beach Poly advances to semifinals

Roschon Prince returned to the lineup on Thursday night for Long Beach Poly after being away at a camp, and he contributed 15 points in the Jackrabbits’ 48-27 victory over Orange Lutheran in the quarterfinals of the Fairfax tournament.

Jordan Bell added 12 points for Poly, which played impressively on defense but struggled at times on offense. Poly will play El Camino Real on Friday at 6 p.m. in the semifinals. The other semifinal matches Pasadena and Harvard-Westlake at 7:30 p.m.

In a consolation game, freshman Max Heidegger made 13 of 16 shots, including five three-pointers, and finished with 31 points in Crespi’s 98-60 win over Campbell Hall.

Alemany defeated Oaks Christian, 77-60. Bear Henderson scored 21 points. Alemany will play Crespi on Friday at 1:30 p.m. Loyola will play St. John Bosco at noon in consolation games.

At the Westchester tournament, Friday’s semifinals match Mater Dei-Bishop Montgomery and Sylmar vs. Westchester or Inglewood. Sylmar defeated St. John Bosco, 76-45, on Thursday.
