Former La Puente Bishop Amat infielder Rio Ruiz has reached agreement with the Houston Astros, his father, Rudy, said Saturday night. Ruiz, a fourth-round draft pick, will fly to Houston to take a physical before signing for a reported bonus of $1.85 million.

Ruiz, who signed with USC, missed most of his senior year after undergoing a procedure last March to remove a blood clot. He was cleared by his doctor on Thursday to resume action.
