Baseball: Pitching talent in Ridgecrest

College recruiters might have to get their car gas tanks filled up, because Ridgecrest Burroughs has a pitcher to watch. At least that was the conclusion of Golden Valley Coach Scott Drootin, who knows good pitchers when he sees one.

Drootin was impressed with Ridgecrest sophomore right-hander Domonique Hernandez, who threw against his team in an American Legion game. He said Hernandez threw harder than any pitcher he had seen in the Foothill League this past season.

Hernandez pitched for Burroughs as a freshman last season and threw a shutout against Barstow. He’s expected to be selected to play in a Legion all-star game.
