Baseball: North-South all-star series gets started

The South was beaten by scores of 5-3 and 2-1 on Saturday in the first two games of the California Baseball Coaches' Assn. North-South all-star series at San Diego State matching top seniors to be.

The South offense received two hits from Orange Lutheran's Jason Martin in the first loss. Simi Valley catcher Dylan Alexander threw out three runners trying to steal bases.

In the 2-1 defeat, Cypress pitcher Kevin Lillicrop threw four strong innings.

The series concludes on Sunday with a 10 a.m. game.
