Carlos Correa, a 17-year-old shortstop from Puerto Rico, was taken No. 1 in the amateur draft Monday by the Houston Astros.

The Minnesota Twins took outfielder Byron Buxton from Appling County High School in Baxley, Ga., with the No. 2 pick.
