Track: Khalfani Muhammad runs 10.45 100 meters

Junior Khalfani Muhammad of Sherman Oaks Notre Dame ran a personal-best 10.45 seconds in the 100 meters on Saturday to win the Southern Section Division 3 title, beating Rio Mesa’s Blake Selig, who ran 10.50. Muhammad’s time was wind-aided.

In Division 2, Kyree King of Colony edged Loyola’s Morgan Simon. King ran 10.5218 and Simon was at 10.5291.

In Division 1, Herbert Gamboa of San Clemente ran 10.51 to take first place. In Division 4, Vinnie Saucer won in 10.54.

In the girls’ Division 1 final, Ariana Washington of Long Beach Poly, a sophomore, ran the second-fastest time in the nation at 11.45.

In the girls’ Division 3 800 final, Amy Weissenbach of Harvard-Westlake set a division record in 2:07.38.

Sophomore Adoree Jackson of Gardena Serra won the boys’ Division 4 long jump in 23-7 1/2.

Rio Mesa won the boys’ Division 3 championship, ending Notre Dame’s string of three in a row. Loyola won the Division 2 title. Long Beach Poly continued its domination in Division 1 girls with a fifth consecutive team title. .
