Track & Field: Rio Mesa, Poly win 4x100 relays

The Southern Section Masters Meet is off and running at Cerritos College.

Oxnard Rio Mesa showed why it is the state leader in the 4x100 relay, holding off Sherman Oaks Notre Dame with a winning time of 40.95 seconds. Notre Dame, anchored by Khalfani Muhammad, clocked 41.01. Gardena Serra was third in 41.27, Westlake Village Oaks Christian was fourth (41.39) and Los Angeles Loyola wa fifth (41.66).

Long Beach Poly edged Gardena Serra to win the girls 4x100 in 45.72. Serra ran 46.21, Rancho Cucamonga Los Osos was third in 46.78, Inglewood St. Mary’s Academy was fourth in 47.09 and Westlake Village Oaks Christian was fifth (47.24).
