For all the football fans who can’t wait for the real season to begin in August, the first of many seven on seven passing tournaments is set for Saturday at L.A. Valley College.

It’s a 24-team tournament that will be broken down in two separate divisions. Action begins at 8 a.m. with pool play. Championship games are scheduled for 4 p.m.

Orange Lutheran is expected to make an appearance, which will provide an early look at first-year Coach Chuck Petersen’s new offense.

Alemany, Crespi, Chaminade, St. Bonaventure and Birmingham are among the schools confirmed.

But since Saturday is also the day for the Southern Section track and field finals at Mount San Antonio College, lots of fast athletes won’t be playing. Also, Crescenta Valley is holding a two-day tournament Friday and Saturday.
