Boys' basketball: Windward assistant to take over at South Gate

Al Rangel, an assistant basketball coach at L.A. Windward, is returning to his alma mater, South Gate, to become the head coach.

Rangel has been an assistant at Windward for seven years. He was a standout player at South Gate in the early 1990s.

"He will bring back the Rams pride," said Windward Coach Miguel Villegas, who's also a South Gate grad.
