Baseball: Parker Merritt sends Bonita to Dodger Stadium

Parker Merritt, the No. 2 pitcher for Bonita, did his job, throwing six shutout innings, and Justin Garza closed out the game in the seventh to help Bonita defeat Gahr, 3-0, in a Southern Section Division 3 semifinal game.

Bonita advances to Friday's 1:30 p.m. final at Dodger Stadium against Alhambra, a 6-4 winner over Beckman. Sophomore Marco Briones came on in relief for Alhambra and keyed the victory.

Max Bethell and Kyle Davis combined on a one-hitter to lead Garden Grove Pacifica past South Hills, 2-1, in a Division 2 semifinal. Pacific will face Aliso Niguel in the 4:30 p.m. final on Friday at Dodger Stadium. Aliso Niguel defeated Trabuco Hills, 16-3.

In Division 5, Paraclete pulled out a 3-2 win over Lompoc in 10 innings. Mylz Jones had a bases loaded single in the bottom of the 10th.
