Baseball: Major-league debut for ex-San Fernando pitcher

Miguel Gonzalez, who graduated from San Fernando High in 2002, made his major-league debut for the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday night.

He went to Mission College before being signed as a free agent by the Angels. He had Tommy John surgery and has pitched in Mexico.

He struck out five in 3 1/3 innings against the Toronto Blue Jays, whose pitcher was former Roosevelt standout Ricky Romero.
