Baseball: Funeral is Tuesday for former Notre Dame Coach Al Alcala

A funeral will be held Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. at the Gates Kingsley Funeral Home in Santa Monica for former Sherman Oaks Notre Dame Coach Al Alcala, who died on May 8 after an illness. He was 83.

Alcala was Notre Dame’s baseball coach from 1961 through 1983, winning 13 league titles. He was inducted into the school’s sports Hall of Fame in February.

He is survived by his wife, Florence.
