Baseball: Chris Castellanos vs. Chase DeJong

The baseball regular season ends Thursday night in the Moore League with a showdown game between Long Beach Poly and ace pitcher Chris Castellanos taking on Long Beach Wilson and ace pitcher Chase DeJong at 6:30 p.m. at Blair Field.

Poly (10-1) has a half-game lead over Lakewood (10-2) and a one-game lead over Wilson (9-2). A Wilson victory would result in a three-way tie for first place and coin flips to decide seedings for the playoffs.

The last time Castellanos faced Wilson and DeJong, he threw a perfect game.

Lots of Southern Section Division 1 schools figure to be in the stands scouting. And there won’t be a whole lot of runs scored.
