May 10, 2012 |  8:45 pm

The last time Long Beach Poly's Chris Castellanos pitched against Long Beach Wilson's Chase DeJong on April 17, Castellanos threw a perfect game and won, 1-0.

On Thursday night at Blair Field, DeJong has been trying to make sure he does everything possible to beat Castellanos. The two pitchers are locked in a 0-0 deadlock through eight innings, and DeJong hasn't given up a hit.

Castellanos has given up six hits while striking out 12 and walking one. DeJong has 10 strikeouts and hasn't come close to giving up a hit. He has walked three.

Updated: Through nine innings, it's a 0-0 deadlock. In the bottom of the ninth, Hayden Hunt of Poly was thrown out at the plate trying to score from second on a throwing error. Castellanos has been replaced on the mound in the 10th after finishing with 13 strikeouts. Poly still hasn't gotten a hit off DeJong.

DeJong pitched through the 10th inning, finishing with 12 strikeouts and no hits.
