Khalfani Muhammad, the junior sprinter from Sherman Oaks Notre Dame, turned on the speed on Saturday at the Maurice Greene Invitational and came away with his best clocking in the 100 meters, winning in 10.54 seconds against an elite field.

He defeated Corona Roosevelt’s Elijah Mitchell and Oaks Christian’s Vinnie Saucer in what could be a preview of this year’s state championships.

‘He ran well,’ Notre Dame Coach Joe McNab said.

It was an improved performance from the Arcadia Invitational, when Muhammad finished fourth after a poor start.
