Swimming: Get ready for four Forbes brothers in relay

Call it unique, call it quirky, call it close to unprecedented. The four Forbes brothers from La Verne Damien are scheduled to represent the school in the 400-meter freestyle relay on Tuesday in a swim meet against Covina Charter Oak.

That means freshman Emmanuel Forbes, sophomore Michael Forbes, junior Gabriel Forbes and senior Raphael Forbes are going to need real family closeness and talent to pull off a victory.

At least their father, Michael Sr., won't need to worry about who to cheer for.

"Everybody on that team, I'm rooting for," he said.

There's also two younger sisters in the family who swim, Rachel, an eighth-grader, and Ariel, a seventh-grader. Don't look for them to follow the brothers to Damien, because it's an all-boys school.

But what a scene _ four brothers forming their own relay team. Now that's something to get excited about.
