Baseball: The turnaround at Agoura continues

Who saw this coming? Agoura is 10-1-1 overall and in first place in the Marmonte League with a 6-0 record after rallying for a 7-4 victory over Moorpark on Thursday.

Agoura fell behind, 4-2, then scored three runs in the sixth and two in the seventh. Tyler Cohen had two RBIs and Brody Fehmel and Mark Seyler had two hits apiece. Coach Mike Cordero, in his second season, has the Chargers on the move after a 10-16 rookie season in 2011.

Atherton Kniseley had two hits and three RBIs to lead a 12-hit attack as Simi Valley Royal handed Newbury Park its first defeat in Marmonte League play, 10-3. Nick Kinsman, Brett Zahorik, Jonah White and Zack Kosinski added two hits apiece for the Highlanders, who scored seven runs in the first two hits. Newbury Park is 10-2-1 and 5-1.

Nick Vigo and Cody Ramer combined on a four-hitter to give Simi Valley (9-4, 3-3) a 1-0 victory over Thousand Oaks. Vigo struck out seven and walked one in six innings. Ramer got the save and also contributed two hits. The Pioneers scored the winning run on an error in the seventh.

Westlake defeated Calabasas, 11-10. Luke Dykstra had a three-run home run for Westlake. Sammy Ross contributed three hits and six RBIs for Calabasas.

In San Diego, El Camino Real was beaten by Poway, 6-1. Taft lost to San Diego University, 11-8.

Palisades received a complete game from Spencer Simon in a 3-0 win over Madison.
