Baseball: Strong start sends El Toro past Esperanza, 9-6

El Toro scored eight runs in the first two innings and went on to secure a 9-6 victory over Esperanza in a semifinal game of the Hard 9 National Classic.

Nick Villar had a double and two singles. Dan Conmy had a triple and double. Jordan Wirth struck out eight in 5 2/3 innings.

El Toro (19-2) will play El Dorado (11-5) in Thursday's 7:30 p.m. final at Cal State Fullerton.

Brad Anderson led Esperanza (13-3) with two doubles and a single.
