Baseball: Owen Perry throws two-hitter for El Camino Real

What a difference a week makes. Junior left-hander Owen Perry of Woodland Hills El Camino Real was pulled early on last week in a 5-4 loss to Granada Hills.

On Monday, he threw a complete-game two-hitter as the Conquistadores won their San Diego tournament opener against Montgomery, 2-1. Taft defeated San Diego County San Marcos, 6-2. Mike Colon had three hits.

JSerra defeated West Ranch, 1-0. Trevor Charpie threw a complete game. Malibu (11-2) defeated Cathedral City, 8-6. Chase Lambert had three hits.

La Verne Bonita won its ninth consecutive game and improved to 13-1 overall with a 14-3 win over San Dimas. Anthony Gonzalez and Jake Blunt each had three hits.

Murrieta Mesa defeated Corona, 1-0, behind pitcher Chase Chambers.

Daniel Zamora threw a complete game in Bishop Amat’s 5-1 win over Bishop Montgomery.

In Las Vegas, San Fernando lost to Sierra Vista, 10-9. Alonzo Garcia gave up two earned runs in five innings. Carlos Robles and Williams Vazquez each had two hits and three RBIs. San Fernando defeated Pahrump Valley, 14-2, in five innings. Isaac Dominguez had three hits. Kevin Martinez threw all five innings and had three RBIs.

Birmingham defeated Sunrise Mountain, 7-5. Randy Medellin had a double and triple. Daniel Gomez had two RBIs. Chatsworth defeated Peninsula, 17-3. Chris DeVito hit a three-run home run. The Chancellors also beat Durango, 7-0, behind Jason Karkenny, who struck out 10. Jared Holley had three hits.

Cleveland defeated Las Vegas Centennial, 9-0. Jack Hartman threw six shutout innings. Grant Shapiro and Aidan Connell had two hits each.

In the Dennis Gilbert tournament, Lincoln defeated SOCES, 13-1. Adam Martinez had a grand slam.

In a doubleheader at USC, Crescenta Valley defeated Loyola, 2-1, in the first game. Kyle Murray threw a complete game, striking out seven. In the second game, Loyola defeated Crescenta Valley, 8-4.

Brentwood defeated Southwest, 9-1. Zack Lewis picked up his third win and Jake Katofsky had three RBIs. Cathedral defeated St. Bernard, 16-1, hitting four home run. Alan Trejo hit a grand slam. Willie Aguilar was four for four. Sierra Canyon defeated Foothill Christian, 3-0. Aaron Landecker and Jackson Ramey combined on a four-htiter. Golden Valley defeated Desert Hot Springs, 9-0.

San Clemente defeated Santa Barbara, 7-1. Danny Atkinson struck out eight in six innings.
