Baseball: Loyola finishes third in Florida tournament

Tuning up for a Mission League showdown with Alemany next week, Los Angeles Loyola finished third in the Jesuit tournament in Florida, beating Knoxville (Tenn.) Catholic, 7-3, on Friday. Sophomore Nate Hadley threw three shutout innings to get the victory.

Brandon Caruso had four RBIs for the Cubs, who are 14-5-1 overall going into a two-game series against Alemany that begins on Tuesday at Loyola.

Loyola’s best performance came in a 3-2 loss to Tampa Jesuit, the No. 1-ranked team in Florida. Junior pitcher Chad Powers shut out Jesuit for five innings.
