Baseball: Harvard-Westlake shows off pitching depth

Studio City Harvard-Westlake continues to come up with top pitchers when needed. Brandon Deere got his chance on Saturday, and he struck out eight and allowed six hits in a 3-1 victory over Simi Valley.

The Wolverines improved to 19-3-1.

Riverside North (21-3) defeated Ramona, 10-9, in 10 innings. Gabe Fraca and Gabe Clark each hit home runs. Franca went four for five with three RBIs. North will play Bonita for the Corona Centennial tournament championship next Saturday at 4 p.m. at Centennial.

Moorpark defeated North Hollywood, 7-0. Jared Mattera struck out 10 in six innings. Gunnar Mazur and Ryan Zimmeran had two hits apiece.

Taft defeated Grant, 15-2. Adam Cox allowed three hits. San Fernando defeated University, 7-4. Chatsworth defeated Narbonne, 6-5. Jared Holley had two RBIs and Scott Voets had a double and single. Agoura defeated Marshall, 10-3. Mark Seyler got the pitching win.

Bishop Amat defeated Santa Monica, 12-1. Oaks Christian defeated Culver City, 4-2, in eight innings behind Phil Bickford. Van Nuys defeated Gardena, 3-2.
