Baseball: El Dorado wins National Classic championship game

Placentia El Dorado has given itself a big boost for the rest of the season after winning the championship game of the Hard 9 National Classic with a 4-2 victory over Lake Forest El Toro on Thursday night at Cal State Fullerton.

Junior pitcher Joe Record had a no-hitter for 6 1/3 innings in leading the Golden Hawks (13-5) to the tournament championship. El Dorado’s Kyle Twomey was named tournament MVP. He got the final two outs Thursday for the save.

In the third place game, Brad Anderson had two hits and two RBIs in Esperanza’s 7-3 win over Florida IMG.

Alemany defeated Nevada Galena, 8-3. Chase Davis had two doubles and three RBIs. Peter Van Gansen hit a two-run home run. Ryan Paramo (4-0) pitched five innings. Alemany is 14-4-1.

Bishop Amat defeated Spanish Fork, 11-8.

In the consolation final, Isaiah Terrazas threw a shutout in Cypress’ 5-0 win over Garden Grove Pacifica. Chaminade was beaten by James River, 8-2.
