Baseball: Buena’s Isaac Horigan throws a one-hitter

Isaac Horigan of Ventura Buena had his eighth complete game of the season on Tuesday, throwing a one-hitter in his team’s 5-0 Channel League victory over Santa Barbara.

Horigan (7-1) allowed only an infield single in the seventh. He struck out five and walked two. Buena improved to 13-4 overall and 3-2 in league. Santa Barbara dropped to 10-6 and 1-4.

In the Foothill League, West Ranch defeated Canyon, 9-1. JC Cloney threw six innings to pick up his fifth victory of the season. He also had a home run, double and three RBIs. Jagged Rusconi and Gabe Peralta each had three hits. Valencia defeated Golden Valley, 13-2. Brian Mundell hit a grand slam and Keston Hiura went five for five.

Freshman Joe Bilbo delivered a game-winning single in the bottom of the seventh to lift Hart past Saugus, 6-5. Hart and West Ranch are tied for first place with 5-1 record. Hart rallied from a 5-0 deficit. Matt Machin had three hits.

In the Hacienda League, La Verne Bonita improved to 16-1 oerall and 4-0 in league with a 6-3 win over Walnut. Tyler Heslop had three hits and three RBIs. Sam Stavang raised his pitching record to 5-0.

In the Pacific League, Arcadia defeated Burbank, 2-1. In the Baseline League, Glendora defeated Los Osos, 4-3. In a Delphic League opener, Sean Adler struck out 12 as Sierra Canyon (13-3, 1-0) defeated Windward, 3-2.

In the Pacific View League, Camarillo defeated Oxnard, 7-2, with Hunter Virant striking out nine.

In Florida, Loyola defeated St. Peter’s Catholic, 6-4.
