Having gained 20 pounds since football season ended, senior Connor Einck of Anaheim Servite is in the best shape of his teenage life and showing it in the shot-put pit.

Last week, he achieved a personal best of 58 feet, 6 inches at the Irvine Invitational, the best mark in the state.

‘He’s 20 pounds heavier, and it’s all muscle,’ Coach Robert Gibbs said.

Einck was a starting defensive lineman in football. He played at 210 pounds. He finished 14th in the Division III prelims last season in the shot put.

He’s finally healthy and focused on the shot put, making him an athlete to watch this spring.
