Girls’ basketball: Riverside North wins Division II regional title

Clutch free throws by Simone De Coud and Kamille Diaz in the final minute helped Riverside North defeat Santa Ana Foothill, 57-49, in the Division II Southern California Regional final in girls’ basketball at the Citizens Business Bank Arena.

Foothill pulled to within 51-49 with 1:53 left on a three-pointer by Dayanara Armenta. But North (29-5) got a basket from Diaz and then converted its free throws to earn its first trip to Sacramento.

Priscilla Brooks scored 17 points, Brittany Crain had 14 and De Coud 11. North will play Archbishop Mitty, which upset St. Mary’s, on Friday at 6 p.m. in Sacramento.
