Girls’ basketball: Mission Prep 62, Rolling Hills Prep 41

Jenna Dunbar had 21 points, seven assists and five rebounds to lead top-seeded San Luis Obispo Mission Prep to a 62-41 victory over third-seeded San Pedro Rolling Hills Prep on Saturday in their Division V Southern California Regional final at Ontario Colony High.

After only leading by six points at halftime, the Royals took over in the third quarter, going on an 8-2 run in the first three minutes and outscoring the Huskies 19-8.

Mission Prep outshot Rolling Hills Prep, 52.1% to 28.3% and were eight for ten from the free throw line while the Huskies were seven for 20.

Kaylee Williams had 16 points, eight rebounds and six assists for the Royals. Bri Harvey added 13 points and six rebounds.

Mar-Jana Phillips led the Huskies with 25 points and 12 rebounds.

With the win, Mission Prep improves to 31-2 and claims its seventh win its seventh Southern Section regional final appearance. Rolling Hills Prep falls to 21-5 and is 0-2 in its Southern Section regional final games.

Mission Prep last played in the State Championship in 2008, losing to Ross Branson, 51-39.
