Girls’ basketball: Lynwood leads by 12 at halftime

Nijila Johnson hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to give fifth-seeded Lynwood a 32-20 halftime lead over third-seeded Riverside North in the CIF Southern Section Division 2AA final at the Anaheim Convention Center.

Guard Priscilla Lopez has 10 points, Shahana Zeigler has seven and Amber Blockmon has five for the Knights, who outscored North 18-6 in the second quarter. Lynwood has shot 12 of 27 (44.4%) from the field and is six of nine at the free throw line.

Junior center Priscilla Brooks has 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Huskies, who are just 10 of 31 (32.3%) from the field and 0 for 3 at the foul line. The score was 14-14 at the end of the first quarter.
