Girls’ basketball: Lynwood captures 2AA crown

Priscilla Lopez scored 14 points, Amber Blockmon had 13 and Shahana Zeigler added 12 as Lynwood held off a fourth-quarter rally by Riverside North to triumph 66-55 in the Southern Section Division 2AA championship game at the Anaheim Convention Center.

Jazmine Johnson and Alize Lofton each added nine points for the fifth-seeded Knights (25-4), who shot 41.2% from the field and made 22 of 29 free throw attempts. Lynwood got a huge contribution from its reserves, who scored 32 points compared to five bench points for North.

Priscilla Brooks had 18 points and 14 rebounds for the third-seeded Huskies (28-5), who trailed by 20 points late in the third quarter before pulling to within 53-51 on a three-pointer by Kamille Diaz with 3:10 left. Lynwood answered with a 10-2 run to put the game out of reach.
