It’s a battle between the top two seeds in the Los Angeles City Section Division I final and #2 Fairfax has a 23-17 halftime lead over #1 Harbor City Narbonne at Cal State Dominguez Hills.

Kimberly Pickett made a three-pointer from just inside the halfcourt line to beat the buzzer and pull the Gauchos even, 8-8, at the end of the first quarter, but Narbonne has made only 5 of 24 shots (20.8%) and only 5 of 14 free throw attempts.

Angelica Laury has eight points and Danah Haley has six for the Lions, who outscored Narbonne 15-9 in the second quarter. Fairfax is trying to become the third team from the Western League to win a City title this season. Palisades defeated Monroe to capture the Division II crown Friday at Roybal Learning Center while University beat Marshall to take the Division III title earlier Saturday.

Fairfax is out-rebounding Narbonne 22-14 and has gotten 21 points from its bench compared to two for the Gauchos.
